Türkiye Denies Allegations of Missing Organs in Autopsy of British Citizen

Authorities refute false claims about a British national’s autopsy, confirming that the heart is under medical examination and will be returned to the family.

The Republic of Türkiye's Directorate for Combating Disinformation has issued a statement addressing misleading reports circulating in the media and on social platforms regarding the autopsy of a British citizen who recently died in Istanbul.

According to the official statement, allegations suggesting that the individual's heart was lost or stolen are completely baseless. The heart is currently undergoing standard histopathological examination as part of ongoing forensic procedures and will be returned to the family once the analysis is completed.

Medical background and procedural clarity

The deceased reportedly experienced serious health complications during a flight from the United Kingdom to Istanbul. Upon arrival, they were admitted to Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital, where they later passed away due to multiple organ failure.

Authorities confirmed that no surgical procedures were conducted during the treatment process. Given statements from the spouse indicating possible food poisoning prior to departure from the UK, the case was registered as a forensic matter.

An initial autopsy was conducted, but the cause of death remained undetermined. As a result, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered a detailed autopsy by the Council of Forensic Medicine. Due to the deceased's age and inconclusive findings, the entire heart was preserved for further pathological evaluation.

The body was released, investigation continues

All necessary samples for autopsy were collected, and the body was subsequently released to the family. The heart remains in custody of forensic authorities exclusively for medical examination purposes. It will also be returned once analysis is complete.

The statement emphasizes that the disinformation campaign targeting Türkiye’s medical and legal institutions is misleading and should not be taken seriously by the international public.

“Manipulative reports related to the autopsy procedures are entirely unfounded and serve only to spread disinformation,” the official release concluded.

In the wake of a recent earthquake that struck Istanbul, Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced a price ceiling for domestic flights, setting a maximum ticket price of 1,750 TL. The decision suspends the airline’s usual dynamic pricing model, which adjusts fares based on demand.

The move comes after many Istanbul residents rushed to book flights and buses to leave the city, causing a sudden surge in ticket prices. In response, THY introduced a fixed-price policy to prevent further price hikes during this period of increased demand.

Official Statement from Turkish Airlines

The announcement was made by THY’s Senior Press Advisor Yahya Üstün, who stated:

"Due to the earthquakes felt in Istanbul today, we extend our best wishes to all our citizens, especially those in Istanbul. In light of the current conditions, we will operate additional domestic flights to areas in need and have set a maximum fare of 1,750 TL for all domestic routes. This change will be reflected in our systems shortly."

???? Which Flights Are Covered?

The price cap applies to all domestic flights departing from Istanbul, regardless of the destination within Turkey. The goal is to ensure accessibility and prevent price exploitation during emergencies.

???? Support for Citizens During Crisis

By temporarily suspending dynamic pricing, Turkish Airlines aims to support citizens who may urgently need to travel following the earthquake. The airline also announced that additional flights will be scheduled to meet increased demand.

Turkey's Most Populated Neighborhoods

The most populated neighborhoods in Turkey are mainly concentrated in the central areas of major cities and industrial zones. The rapid urbanization and continuous migration to these areas contribute to the increasing population numbers.

The Largest Neighborhood: Bağcılar in Diyarbakır

The most populated neighborhood in Turkey is Bağcılar in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, with a population of 157,422.

As 2025 approaches, recipients of the home care allowance are wondering about potential increases in their payments. Because these allowances are linked to civil servant salaries, any changes to civil servant pay directly impact the allowance amount.

The allowance was set at 9,077 TL in July. A further increase is expected in January. Some estimates suggest the allowance could rise to 10,100 TL. However, the precise amount will depend on inflation data from TURKSTAT and finalized civil servant salary increases, both due in January.

In short, home care allowances will rise in line with civil servant salaries, with the exact increase depending on January's inflation figures. Current expectations are for the allowance to reach up to 10,100 TL.
